Join us for Northern Lights 2021 and learn together with colleagues from across Northern Ontario. Our Pan Northern Leadership Forum will include virtual sessions on the afternoons of February 25 and 26th along with pre Forum and post Forum online leadership development activities. Together we will explore Daring Leadership in an ever-changing and unpredictable world. Our clinical and educational settings need daring leadership. Dare to take a stand when those around you are sitting. Dare to take on a new role and learn how to deliver on mandates and dreams. Dare to engage in difficult conversations with courage and empathy. Dare to support leadership diversity, equity and inclusion on your teams, with your colleagues and at NOSM.
Keynote Address: Jane Philpott
The Honourable Jane Philpott is a family physician and former Member of Parliament. She served in numerous cabinet positions including Minister of Health, Minister of Indigenous Services, President of the Treasury Board and Minister of Digital Government. Dr. Philpott played a lead role in policies that have shaped Canada: bringing in 25,000 Syrian refugees; legislating Medical Assistance in Dying; negotiating a health accord with new resources for mental health and home care; and improving infrastructure for First Nations to provide clean water. Prior to politics, Jane was a family doctor for 30 years, with the first decade of her career in Niger, West Africa. She was Chief of Family Medicine at Markham Stouffville Hospital. On July 1, 2020 Dr. Philpott was appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Director of the School of Medicine and CEO of the Southeastern Ontario Academic Medical Organization. (SEAMO).
